CF 66 Service Learning Road Trips are Trips sponsored by Camp Fire USA Patuxent
Area Council that provide youth with opportunities for Community Service, Team
Building, Leadership Development, and Survival Skills.

Jeremy Wroblewski of the Bowie Teens in Action Club has been
selected to service on the National Youth Advisory Cabinet. |
After 14 years in Camp Fire USA and earning many recognitions and
ranks, Jeremy Wroblewski was selected to serve as a member of the National Camp
Fire USA Youth Advisory Cabinet. This select group of young people
provides the National Board of Directors with the voice of youth. Teens
interact with national leadership to plan and implement programs that are
meaningful to youth and have an impact on the community.
Jeremy will work with our local Youth Advisory Council to ensure that we stay
up to date on youth activities and engage youth in meaningful activities.

Teens in Action Service Projects and
Upcoming activities.

Service Projects:

Hundreds for the Hurricane-Teens from Teens in Action have completed their
second successful Hurricane Drive. During the past 2 years teens have
collected over $2000 Dollars for victims of hurricanes. This money has
been donated to local Red Cross Chapters for them to assist victims. This
year the teens also encouraged youth from local schools to prepare Camp Fire
Friendship Bags which were sent to Camp Fire Councils that serve youth in the
areas destroyed by the hurricane. Over 400 friendship bags were shipped
to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Helping the Homeless-Teens from Teens in Action have been working on and
planning activities to support their National Youth Imitative on Homelessness
and Hunger. Over the past few months they have raised money that will be
used to support Camp Fire programs that serve the homeless and the hungry
including a Day Camp Program, a food drive, and walking for the homeless.

Building with Habitat for Humanity-Teens are getting ready to start to build
their Second "Youth United" Habitat House. This is a house that is build
by youth for a family who is in need of safe and adequate housing. Teens
in Teens in Action will join with other youth to create a home for a family.

Martin Luther King Days of Service-Starting in January, Teens will work on
projects that will be part of the Martin Luther King Days of Service.
Since 2002, Teens from Patuxent Area Council have developed projects and
completed activities that are in the spirit of MLK. They have fed the
hungry, taught children to read, helped seniors with gardening, and done a
number of other projects that strengthen our community.

National Youth Service Day-Teens and youth from CFUSA are beginning to plan for
April's National Youth Service Days. Watch for their exciting projects
and ways that you can join them.

Teens have held fundraising projects to raise funds for their service
projects. These have included working with children in camping settings,
selling food at autumn activities, baking cookies for bake sales.

Teens baked cookies for Red Cross Disaster Workers. The workers loved the
homemade goodies and sent great thanks to the Teens.

Upcoming Events and Programs:

National Teen Forum to be held in summer 2006. Start planning to attend this
exciting event that will be focused on teen responses to violence and substance
abuse. This forum will be open to all teens ages 14-21. Final dates
and locations to be announced soon.

Points of Light Leadership Institute will be held for Teens interested in doing
community service and looking for ways to develop leadership. The course will
begin in January and will engage youth in meaningful training and leadership

CF 66 Service learning Road Trips-are being scheduled. These trips engage
youth in meaningful service learning while teaching them teambuilding skills,
navigation skills, planning and leadership. Trips are held monthly.
Cost of the trips varies depending on the length of trip and theme of the

Family Potluck dinner to thank parents for their support.

Planning a Breakfast with Santa to raise funds for helping children with
literacy and hosting a breakfast for needy kids.
