September will be a planning month. We will strategize how to realize the following goals for the year:

  • Enhancing the Distractions play.
  • Creating a bi-weekly newsletter on safe driving.
  • Hosting a regional driving safety forum.
  • Hosting a SAFE-TEA for children on safety issues.
  • Updating and the RoadSkill website.
  • Encouraging teachers to participate in RoadSkill.
  • Conducting a survey of safe driving attitudes.
  • Creating written and video documents on safety.
  • Engaging in safety activities with the fire department and Teen CERT.

October

Teens in Action will attend the National Teen Driving Safety Summit in Washington, D.C., which will be hosted by State Farm Insurance Company. Delegates from all over the country will attend, and we look forward to discussing driving safety issues on a national scale, and learning from our safe driving advocate colleagues.

TIA will once more make safe driving a part of the annual Homecoming dance. There will be opportunities for the students to create colorful safe driving messages to post around the school and candy and safe driving bracelets will be passed out. For our most elaborate measure yet, a car will be decorated in the parking lot to send students a strong safety message.

Planning continues for the regional teen driving safety summit in April.

  • Planning

Teens in Action was invited to participate in a CBS radio interview, The Home Team Show with Rane and Flexx on WPGC 95.5. This opportunity to spread the message about safe driving over the airwaves will be a superb way to inform a wide audience of people about the dangers of unsafe teen driving, what we are doing to solve the problem, and how they can help.

Planning continues for the regional safe driving summit on April 26, 2008.
